Claudia's Platonic Love Story
Best Bruto Pals
I’m writing to tell the story of true platonic love between my best friend, Marlow and me.
In the quaint town of Totnes, a new and exciting restaurant named Bruto Lounge opened its doors of opportunity, and our two kindred spirits grabbed the chance. Fate brought us together in a flurry of new jobs and the hustle and bustle of the Lounge life.
No instant connection was formed! But as colleagues came and went, we stuck around and formed the strongest connection. After over a year, we are now best of friends, have regular friend dates and love to enjoy all aspects of the lounge life together.
I love Marlow with all my heart, and without them around, life would be much duller.
Meg & Ollie
Our South West Sweethearts
Ollie and I first met at Tretho Lounge in summer 2022. He’d just come back as an Assistant Manager, and I was a Supervisor from Palacio, drafted in for the busy season. We spent countless long shifts and late closes together and became good friends by the end of summer—nothing more. Afterwards, I returned to Palacio, but we kept crossing paths at meetings, helping each other out, and somehow always ending up working together at New Year’s and over the following summers. It was very much a slow burner for two whole years.
Fast forward to April 2024: we realised we hadn’t seen each other properly in ages, so we met for “a rant and a pint” at a pub in Falmouth—not that we called it a date. We kept meeting up, and eventually I asked him out properly at the top of Tintagel Castle. We tried to keep things quiet… until we were spotted by our Ops Manager while walking down the street. I attempted to subtly move Ollie’s arm from around me, but he held tight, stared him dead in the eyes, and winked. Classic.
The rest is history. We’ve bought a house, adopted our little black cat Marmite, and are now both GMs in Cornwall, an idyllic little life full of adventure, all starting back at Tretho Lounge in St Ives.
Rhianna's Romance
From Czechia To Telford
My boyfriend and I met in Prague back in 2024, but he lived in Telford, and I lived in West Sussex. The weekend after we met, I drove 4 hours to Telford, and he took me to Novello Lounge for our first date, as I am a coeliac and he knew it would be the ideal place for me. I loved it there, and we were able to share food, which I rarely can do!
Fast forward 4 months, and I moved in with him, and ended up with a job working at the Lounge we had our first date in! I’ve been at Novello for over a year now and am loving it, especially seeing the table we had our first date on.
Terianne's Tale
Lupo Love
My first date with my boyfriend was at Lupo Lounge in Wolverhampton! So was our 3rd date.
We’ve now been together over a year, and we go for breakfast there all the time!
And it all started with a piece of melon
Estelle's story
Some of the best friendships begin by chance — and ours began with melon.
About ten years ago, my friend Ruth and I were at an outdoor play and ended up sitting beside two women, Ash and Alex. Somewhere between settling in and the show starting, Ash kindly offered us some melon. That small gesture sparked a conversation and the start of a friendship none of us could have predicted would last a decade.
Not long after, Arco Lounge became our meeting spot. It’s always where we choose to reconnect: relaxed atmosphere, genuinely friendly staff, consistently good food, and easy for all of us to get to. Arco feels effortless — just like our conversations. It’s also become the backdrop to some of our biggest moments. We celebrated Ash’s 60th there. I celebrated my engagement there. We’ve shared laughter, honesty, and the occasional tear as we’ve talked through life’s joys and challenges.
Every visit has strengthened our bond, and Arco has quietly held space for that growth. It’s a place where we all feel happy, comfortable, and truly ourselves — and that’s rare. Lounges haven’t just given me great food and great hot chocolate — they’ve given me places where relationships can deepen, and memories can take root.
Kara's story
The Theatre Girls
The picture on the right is of ‘The Theatre Girls’ at our annual New Year’s Eve meet up at Barolo Lounge in Yeovil! I formed this group over two years ago with just a handful of like-minded friends so we’d always have someone to go to the theatre with.
The group has grown since then, and we have become a brilliant and lovely community, whether we’re at the theatre or at our local Lounge.
