Cappello Lounge can be found close to the ever-popular market – known locally as ‘The Stones’ – that has operated on the high street since 1173.
Meaning ‘hat’ in Italian, Cappello takes its name from the town’s felt hat manufacturing industry that flourished throughout the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. There is even a mural of a gentleman wearing a hat at the back of the bar in homage to this legacy – which, during the 1820s, employed a third of the local population.
The Lounge itself is decked in our traditional eccentric style, with upcycled furniture, quirky paintings and mismatched mirrors to set the warm, cosy and welcoming ambience.
Cappello Lounge is able to seat 150 guests – and we recommend soaking up the summertime sunshine in the peaceful, secluded patio area at the back.
