About Argo Lounge

Argo Lounge opened its doors on 17th December 2014, right on the town square, and at the entrance to St Peter’s Arcade. This gorgeous building sits in between the Cathedral and the Town Hall, and opposite the historic guildhall in the centre of the town. The building Argo Lounge now inhabits is in the same majestic style as its neighbours, with wonderful square-edged Georgian windows and an ornamental balcony running the length of the building.

The inside of this gorgeous site can seat a whopping 242 guests, in an area filled with a variety of fascinating features. From the massive soviet-era paintings of Lenin and his apparatchiks, to the glorious art-deco chrome and glass cylindrical light fittings, we’re certain you’ll fall in love with this quirky and eccentrically styled café bar. If you’re in the mood for a spot of al fresco dining, we have a lovely outside seating area, which looks out over the beautiful town square.

Interesting Fact

We have a storage room that was christened the Harry Potter room - so called because it’s longer than the building itself!
