We regularly change our cocktails menu to make sure they’re still hitting the spot and with so many talented staff in Lounges we have the perfect assistance in inventing these creations.
Every year we hold a cocktail invention competitions with the winning cocktail making it on to our menu, this year the Kraken Cocktail Bust Off was held at Cosy Club Birmingham on 26th September.
From a long list twelve finalists were chosen and invited to the event for testing, tweaking and tasting. A true test of cocktail skills, the competition mixes (ha!) not just the ability to design a decent cocktail, but to make them for real as well.
The Kraken crew (makers of yummy rum) came along and supported the finalists, handing out tips and sharing their expertise. After a series of challenges, our judges settled down to some serious sampling. Here’s a video of the action….
Competition was tight though, and choosing a winner was tough. Naturally, the only option was for a ‘shake off’ between the top two finalists. Both made a few tweaks to their creations and the judges re-tasted…
Ollie from Cultivo Lounge took first place with his ‘Spiced Apple Pie’ cocktail; a delicious blend of Kraken spiced rum, amaretto, cinnamon syrup and apple & lemon juices. It’s the perfect drink for those wintery nights.
