Hello from all of us at Alto Lounge.
You may have noticed an increase in our #LocalLounging fundraising activities recently. Inspired by Matt and Chris from Headway Thames Valley – who join us for breakfast every Thursday –
we wanted to actively help endorse the work of this great charity.
Headway Thames Valley aim to promote a wider understanding of all aspects of brain injury and provide information, support and services to those in need, their families and their carers.
To action our pledge to help, we set a series of tasks and challenges throughout June:
The bear – We asked you to guess the name of our Lounge bear and here is Gail collecting her prize for correctly guessing Edmund
The 5k race – A team of customers and crew ran a 5k race at Dinton Pastures on what was the hottest day of the year so far (11th June). Special thanks goes to The Reading Chronicle for their great coverage of the event to help further raise awareness of Headway Thames Valley.
The sing song – It was then the turn of the much-anticipated live music night on the 25th June. Simon Longhurst performed swing and soul songs, our fully-booked Lounge was suited and booted in fabulous shades of Headway Thames Valley blue and sprinklings of fairy lights – and we had the ever-popular ‘name that tune’ game.
We also tasked you with guessing the weight of the coffee beans in a jar at the bar (they weighed 1.31kg – not 1.75t, Kieron!)
In total, we raised a fantastic £1,150 for Headway Thames Valley – which will help pay for day trips for those in need and their carers, or could even be put towards funding for occupational therapy.
We cannot thank everyone enough for completely embracing and supporting the charity with your enthusiasm and donations – and for actively participating in our events and activities. Many thanks must also go to the wider team at Loungers and our results-focused leader, Claire, for making the whole experience such a success.
Until the next fundraiser, keep on lounging.
